Bank Of America - Smart Step Protector Insurance
Rip off "Accidental Death" = Smart Step Protector Insurance= sold over the phone by BANK OF AMERICA employe Desert Hot Springs

After opening an account with Bank of America, I was inundated with calls to my home about various insurance products. I hung up. One night, I must have chatted and agreed to a "trial period" and thought for sure I called to cancel and when I received info in the mail about the "policy" I definately realized how ridiculous it was to have such a costly accidental death insurance which paid out for hardly anything because so many causes of death were excluded. They just highlight and emphasize the $100,000 which only they will receive if one continues to pay them $20 a MONTH.

Usually you must sign and date and agreement to make it valid but they do it opposite-you are in UNLESS you cancel.

I may have accepted the trial period but did not accept the coverage and did NOT agree to $20 being withdrawn from my account every month.

I just noticed a $20 ACH debit - which means they have my account number and routing number which I NEVER gave them but Bank of America already gave it to them with my phone number!
I called the bank and they began a claim and will send me papers to fill out but they said I must call the company to CANCEL. I called the company and despite my insisting to cancel they went on and on how great it is and turned my request into a further delay. I finally got a cancellation number and "an inquiry" is filed about my REFUND and they too will send correspondence within 7-10 days that must be submitted.

Another run around and delay. The Bof A customer service people are trained to not react or respond and to be cool and polite when someone calls with this kind of complaint and demand to stop making payments and request for refund.
