Out of the box use within 3 minutes, very easily. I get very good sound quality from this, and have never had an issue.
I did purchase some international time to speak with my parents in Malawi, and I noticed on that the call sounded a bit tinny... But every time I've ever used it otherwise it's been wonderful. Also, well worth the tinny sound to pay 14 cents a minute as opposed to $2.00 a minute.
All in all, this is an outstanding product. I have read some negative reviews, and just have to say: I am sorry if you had a bad experience with your product, but mine FLAWLESSLY performs exactly as advertised, slightly better.
Oh, a neat trick for you road warriors. If you change the mode from "telephone" to "headset", you can just talk at your computer if you have a built in microphone. I usually wear earbuds while doing calls in this manner because it helps isolate outside sound. Just a tip.
