Rates for my homeowners insurance have more than tripled over the last ten years. I have been with this company for almost 24 years and have never filed a claim. Recently, with my wife out of work, we have started to take a closer look at our expenses. For 2009 State Farm says it would cost $444,400 to cover our property, which we knew was far excessive. After talking to my agent and using State Farm Xactware estimating tool, we have found that the actual coverage should be $268,000. Asked to explain the huge gap in figures, my agent said he could not (or would not). We would like answers, but are being ignored by State Farm and our agent.
