I came back from deployment in Iraq to find a purchase of a car from ROB Doll Nissan thru TIC Federal Credit Union. TIC explained that they will not accept Power of Attorney for purchasing a car. I checked with the dealer and they used a POA for this purchase. The salesperson never provided TIC with this information and according with the manager they can not accept POA for car sales. They took a trade in that was also at my name but with a negative balance of $2,000 that was added to the purchase price at 9.33% interest. They took advantage of a young man, eager to get a car at all cost and made a $34,000 purchase into an almost $50,000. The dealer lie to TIC to get approval, broke all rules of not accepting POA and use very unethical practices to process this transaction, very dark color copies of identification, make him sign my name and TIC open a savings with no signature or presence of the holder, me. After we challenge TIC and the dealer are saying that they have special occasion that they accept POA, but, what is so special about mine? I never got and answer. TIC said that the dealer gave them wrong information, but that they will still have the dealer as a partner. I asked to be able to just turn in the car but they want me to pay the difference in between the car value and what is left on the loan, about $8,000 and said that if we turn in the car it will be treated as "REPO" and that it will reflect in my credit report. What can I do? Should I hire a lawyer? What are my options?
