Walgreen Pharmacy
Civil right violation - sexual harrassment and gender discrimination

This is an additional comment to the statement submitted earlier (by Joseph Evenson) regards to the pharmacist (s) at Walgreen in Des Moines, WA. On the 27th of March.

My name is Naoko (Joseph's fiance, presented at the Walgreen incident).

I strongly believe my civil rights was violated, and sexually harassed in public since I was publicly humiliated by Mr. Tran's words, "You should have known better!" suggesting that I was ignorant, and his specific mentioning of "birth control pill".

In addition, his words, "If I (he) accept the return, I can go to jail" is misleading and threatening by indicating that I was doing something illegal (when he clearly misinformed me about the product) and furthermore, his words shows his ignorance of the state law (WAC) regarding "returning AND resale".

WAC specifies that the product was not to be accepted back for RESALE. However, I, as a customer, have guaranteed right to let the pharmacist know that the product was misrepresented by him, therefore, I was deceived into purchasing the product.in such case, I clearly deserve to have money back for being misled by the pharmacist to complete the purchase.

I did not receive a single apology for his failure to give me a correct information, instead, humiliated by him in public. His mentioning of “birth control pills” in public is clearly a sexual harassment and gender discrimination. His words clearly embarrassed me in front of other customers and employees.

I am a woman in my 40's, and also an ethnic minority. Being publicly humiliated by a man (Pharmacist) in front of other customers was extremely traumatic. I have lost my voice since that event, and became abnormally stressed.in fact, when I went back to talk to the manager at Walgreen pharmacy, it was even more traumatic that I had to talk to her by straining my vocal code.

I am still extremely stressed, and my voice is still gone. I demand the pharmacist to exress an official apology and further compensation. It was absolutely illegal to lie about the facts of the product and accuse me of "misunderstanding" and "being ignorant".
