The 407 etr has some serious billing issues. For a private company to be above accountability is disgusting.
Is it acceptable for this company to double bill, charge exhorbitant interest rates (borderline loansharking), and not be required have to even acknowlege the possibilty of billing errors?
This company wrongfully billed me more that seven years ago for toll charges that I did not make. I repeatedly called them asking for adjustments to the bill because the charges were not right and I refused to pay for them. They stopped contacting me.
And of course they just kept charging interest. Now March I just received a bill for $7,198.45 from charges disputed in 2001. Because of the 407s unwillingness to admit their errors I am now liable for the above amount and will be refused my license plate renewal.
Sounds suspiciously like (legal?) extortion to me. And the fact that this private corporation is above the law... (SOL on billing and collections) with the governments blessing? What is wrong with this picture?
If a private member of the community carried on business in such a manner I am sure... Without a doubt that they would have serious problems with the law.
The 407 needs to accept their mistakes, write off their losses and fix their accounting problems as the problems have not fixed themselves since they opened for business.
