I am writing this letter because I have never been treated in the way that I am now, buying GE Monogram appliances. I just had a house built and decided to use GE Monogram appliances exclusively. I went to a home show in Jacksonville, Florida and stopped by a booth by Martin Appliances. I spoke to a salesperson named Austin. He said that his boss would do whatever it took to be the supplier of my kitchen appliances. The appliances that I had decided to go with were: Refrigerator ZFSB25DSS, Wall Oven ZET3038SHSS, Range ZDP366LPSS, Advantium Microwave ZSC2201NSS, Dishwasher ZBD7920PSS, Wine Reserve ZDWT240PBS, Warming Drawer ZTD910SFSS, Pro Range Hood ZV36TSFSS and finally a Dacor Coffee system. Austin said his boss Jeff authorized a price of $23,500 installed. I priced the same appliances with three other companies including two right here in St Augustine (Clark Appliances and QHA). The other companies were also in the $23,500 range but would not install the appliances for that price. I asked Austin several times about the install process and he assured me not to worry. Jeff told him the install and parts were part of the deal. I decided to give a deposit to order the appliances. I wanted to give Austin a credit card over the phone and he informed me that Jeff did not want to take my Discover card because he would have to pay the credit card company six - percent. I agreed to send a check for $500 to order the appliances. After receiving the check Austin informed me that Jeff said I would have to pay in full for them to order the appliances. I agreed to apply for GE credit financing because they had interest free financing until 2009. I still owed $606.24 after being approved for GE credit; again I was not allowed to use my Discover Card. Once Martin Appliance had payment in full they told me they would order my appliances. Since then I have been treated terrible. I was told that they did not want to deliver any of the appliances unless they had all of them in stock. I explained I did not have a refrigerator or range and Austin said some of the appliances were backordered and I would have to wait until all of them came in. I insisted that they deliver at least these two appliances and they agreed to bring what they had in stock. The delivery date would be December 31. At delivery I was told they would not install the appliances, they would bring them in but no install. I spoke to Jeff Martin immediately and he said they just did not install appliances. They would put them in the place where they belonged but that was it. I told him that Austin had promised me that they would install them and Jeff said Austin does not work for them anymore. He did not care what Austin said; he was not going to install the appliances. The delivery persons left my house with the refrigerator off level as well as the range. My vent was in an open box and has a dent in it. When I called on January 2 and spoke to Jeff Martin to complain how they left the appliances he told me that he was only going to send his men twice more so I better realize that I lived to far away to come out more than that. I told him there was parts missing to do the install, his answer was that he would sell them to me. I asked him if I could talk to someone higher than him in his company, he stated that he was the owner and basically I had no one else to complain to. I told him I was going to write the Better Business Bureau, he said he did not care whom I wrote to. He said he sells $25k of GE appliances once or twice a week and I would have to realize I was not going to get what he promised prior to paying for the appliances. Please help me.
