Summit Resort Marketing, John Reid Summer Resort Marketing/Summit Resort Marketing stole $2499.00 USD

Our story is similar to Vicki from North Battleford Sask (#420147)

On January 27/09 I received an unsolicited call from a Michael Spencer of Summit Resort Marketing. 1-877-264-4232 ext.- 235

He asked if I wanted to sell my Timeshare at Westgate Town Centre, Florida. I said that we did. He asked why, and I said, because of the economy, we wanted to downsize. He said, it was a beautiful property and there is much demand in the area. He asked if it was a 2 bedroom lock off, and I said yes. Then he asked me what our lowest selling price was. He then asked me to hold and said he was going to check his data base to see if there were people interested in such a property. Then he came back and said yes, that he actually had people who were cleared for purchasing property in that particular area, and then he quoted me a price greater than what our lowest selling price was. I told him that I would have to speak with my husband, and he gave me his contact number: Michael Spencer, 1-877-164-4232 ext - 235, and if interested, to give him a call back, he informed us that a 1 time fee to cover the real estate, transfer tax, and all required fees would be required on our end of $2499.00. We would also be couriered a packet of documents to sign. This fee would be non refundable. I questioned him to ensure that this would be the complete fee, and he stated yes, and that submitting to them a void cheque would ensure that we were good for the fees.

On Jan 28, after discussing with my husband, and as we have been trying to sell our timeshare, we called him back and then he stated that as we were from Canada, a wire transfer for the fees would be required. He gave us the wire coordinates. We went to our bank to initiate the wire transfer on this date, and our bank required a beneficiary name, which we did not clearly have. This is required to prevent wire fraud. So we went home and called Michael again, and we spoke with him and he told us to wire it in the name of Summit Resort Marketing Group. He also told us that he had contacted the purchasers, who had already wired payment for our property, and the sooner we had wired the fee, the sooner we can close the sale on our timeshare. So we went back to the bank and completed the wire transfer for $2,499.00 (USD), which on that date = $3,131.76 (CDN) to Bank of America Nations Bank Tower 100 South East 2nd Street Miami, Florida to Beneficiary account 898026758360 of Summit Resort Marketing, 7811 South Orange Blossom Tr, Orlando Florida 32809.

We did receive documents which had been mailed out to us on Feb 2-09 and We received these on Feb 11/09. This included a Sale and Rental Information Agreement Form, and a receipt for the $2499.00 which we had paid. I did have to make a couple of calls to reach a customer service rep to review some questions in regarding the agreement, and some errors which existed on the document. Several times on that date, I got a busy signal, and later on I finally did reach a customer service rep. She apologized, and said that sometimes happens when they are experiencing heavy call volume, and told me to make any corrections, and then fax it back to them. Which I did on Feb 11/09. She also informed me that we would be receiving shortly a welcome package from their office. As of writing this on Feb 26, we have not received this Welcome package as yet.

Since that time, I have tried to call back several times to try to connect with Michael Spencer to see where we are at in the process, but have not spoken directly to him since. Have reached his voice mail several times and left a call back number. Several times I would call and get a busy signal. On Feb 23 I even got the phone service operator recorded message that the number had been temporarily disconnected. Later on I got through, but got a recorded message to leave a message, I would key in ext 235, and get Michael's voice mail. I tried later that day and another gentleman answered and told me that Michael would be in the office on Feb 24. I called on Feb 24th several times and left a message for Michael to please return our call, but he has not. On February 25/09 I got the All our lines are currently busy voice mail message, and to leave a message in their general delivery voice mail, message. I left a voice mail message requesting that a supervisor, or customer service rep, or Michael Spencer please call us back at our phone number. I also decided to try faxing through a note, which did go through to their fax number of 407-345-8926, requesting that Michael Spencer please call us. We have never heard back from anyone at Summit Resort Marketing.

It is on this date, Feb 26 I did an internet search and found the report written by Vicki, and a lot of it is similar to our experience. So I have now wanted to add our voice/experience and hope that someone reading this will help us, or at least inform us of what we can do to stop this group from preying on those of us who would like to sell our timeshare. I am sure there are others out there like us. We look forward to any help or any good that can come out of this.

Also want to inform you, that before submitting, I gave the number another try and got the operator voicemail to leave a message, I have keyed in several of the extensions and am just reaching company voicemail for each of these during prime time business hours of approx 2pm on a Thursday afternoon EST
Extension:
235 - Michael Spencer
236 - David Singleton
237 - Joseph
238 - Customer Service
247 - Harrison Forbes
248 - Chris White
249 - William Sanders
250 - Tom Gatlin

Please be aware of any phone calls you may have received from any of these gentlemen. I would continue to try to get the names of other extensions, but have since received either a busy signal or a fax machine tone. The intervening extensions between 235, and 250 are invalid options and not listed as such here.
