Scams and more scams. Americans stealing from americans. I knew better. Curiosity got the best of me. It was January 5 I stumbled upon an article about how to get Free Government Grant Money to assist you in establishing a business and pay off some debt. The fee was $1.99, www.grants.com was an advertisement to assist you in how to apply for these grants. A CD set with complete instructions would be sent in 2-3 business days. I received e-mails from them almost immediately that my order was received and being processed.
I noticed as soon as I hit the submit button, after giving them my credit card number, a box was checked and there was an additional fee (in fine print at the very bottom of the page) for $19.12. I contacted them immediately to reverse that charge. They answered the e-mail, that was the fee for Google profits. I didn't use Google. The company answered back with a reversal of $18.77, not the $19.12 that I was charged.
Numerous e-mails to them later, after NOT RECEIVING ANY PRODUCT, resulted in no contact from them at all. I contacted my credit card company this morning and was informed that they have charged my cc for an additional $94.89 on January 12. That charge occured 7 days after the original purchase of $1.99.
I have been able to locate the city and state of this offender, Ryan, Iowa 52330, his name on the add was RICK THE CAR GUY, who knows if that is real. I was looking at classic car collections on several different websites where I saw the advertisement. I'm still working on that. I've gone to all of the websites that the advertisement was on, but alas the advertisement is no longer there.
I will now have to check with my cc company every couple of days to see if they are still hitting my account. So if you are interested in goverment grant monies, go to a government website.
