This company reported a debt of $2861.00 under my credit which i have no idea about

This company reported that i owe $2861.00 to a towing company. Not only i do not know about the towing company and this collection company, i do not live and never been in california. I live in las vegas and i am confused on how to go with these thieves who have ruined my credit and my life.
