PNC Bank
PNC insane overdraft fees Wilkes Barre, Pittsburgh

Ok, so I had an account back in August with PNC bank, and i set up the account info with my utility companies to withdraw money on a certain day, as I was expecting a good sized settlement check. I find out 3 days prior to the money being withdrawn, that the check is being "held up", so I call the utility companies and have them delete that bank information because I wouldn't have the money in there. I was told by the utility companies that it takes 48-72 hrs for the bank information to be deleted from their systems.

I immediately went to the PNC branch I use, and spoke to a lady that must have been 2nd in charge because she wasn't the branch manager. I explained the situation, and was told she "cannot close the account or put a hold on it".. I told her if I get charged, its on her. Well, I did... Not only did the charges go through when there was no money to be taken out... It also happened again when there was a NEGATIVE balance... To the tune of nearly $600 in overdraft fees because of PNC letting these companies try to withdraw the money over and over.

I went to the branch where I opened the account, and the branch manager there said "why didn't you come here, this could've been prevented"... She said she would get back to me. I gave her both of my numbers, yet she never got back to me. I received a letter last month that the account will be charged off, and I got a 2nd letter stating I need to pay these NSF fees... I've made numerous calls, but have not had any luck. And then to top it off. PNC withdrew money out of my account I was using, without notifying me 1st.

They withdrew nearly $158... Which was the available balance according to their system. The actual balance after my last transaction was near $100... I noticed this and called PNC but was told to call when the items posted.

Well, when the items posted, PNC (surprise, surprise) takes the highest to lowest on the pending charges and posts them that way, so the last tranaction which was the money PNC withdrew, overdrew my account 4 times... Plus I have been charged $6 a day every day my account is overdrawn.

I have gone to the branch I deal with normally, and was told it would be corrected... Only to have my account that I was using, closed out by the branch manager. I decided to call the regional manager, only to get critized by the charges, and to get attitude like you wouldn't believe. This man, named Peter, was so cocky, I had to hang up the phone, or I would've said something I shouldnt have. Now I have a call into Jim Rohr, president and CEO of PNC Banks to try to get this matter resolved.

I'm still waiting on the Pittsburgh BBB to get back to me, cause I am officially filing a complaint about PNC... Not only do they expect me to pay nearly $600 in NSF fees, which according to a branch manager, couldve been prevented, now they want me to pay nearly $200 in NSF fees from the account I was using because PNC decided to withdraw money that wasn't there, which overdrew my account... I want to see where it says anywhere in PNC's policy that they can withdraw money out of a persons account without their knowledge
