On Christmas eve, I noticed a charge to my checking account for $27. It showed up as: TWX*SH2P6P*FITNESS MAG 800-205-9198 NY. I called the 800 number, which took me to an automated line. There is an option where they can explain the charge, and it told me that I had subscribed to a free magazine offer in September of and that after my 90 day trial period, I would be billed regular price for the magazine. It also told me that before I was billed for anything, they would send me a letter detailing the charges and giving me the option of canceling (I never received any letters from them).
When I tried to cancel, it told me that the charges would be refunded in 1-2 business days, but that I would continue to receive the magazine (I've never received the magazine in the first place) and would be billed again in May. There was no option to just cancel everything altogether and get a refund. I don't trust them to give me the refund, so I'm going to my credit union first thing in the moring to see what I can do about the charges.
