I was charged insurance for my package (it was required), and it happened that it was stolen from my doorstep. A neighbor found the empty box some distance away. I filed a claim with USPS, but they said there was no evidence of insurance either on the box or on the record. I contacted Linda's Stuff looking for the insurance receipt number to give the post office, and they dodged my every email and phone call. Obviously they charge insurance just to make a few extra bucks. On my final phone call to them, I was told they'd refund the $4.50 insurance charge, but no deal. I'm out $215 because my post office claim will be denied without the insurance number.
