While trying to gain info on genealogy, i stumbled upon the link for recordsarea.com. It looked very legitimate and had a state seal on it's website. I paid the $39.95 to get unlimited access and 25 detailed searches. The website says that searches can be done immediately after payment has been done.
Paid by credit card and got my confirmation, so I started searching. I searched for my grandmother's marriage record... No matches for that last name. So I searched by her married name... No matches for that last name.in the entire US... No matches on any one I was searching for. I even searched myself and no records found for my last name and it's a common last name. I found this disturbing as it was taking place within the first 10 minutes after I purchased access to the site.
I called my bank immediatley and asked to dispute the transaction. Since it was in a pending status with them, I was told to contact CLKBNK (click bank) and have them issue the refund or cancellation. I did that by calling (208) 345-4245 and held until I got a rep. On the line. CLKBNK is a third party I assume that just collects the money for this particular site. I was issued an email stating I would receive my refund within 3-5 business days. If the refund does not happen, I will add another post. Thanks and good luck!
