I was in ASDA car park at Havant, when an italian driving a Citroen 4x4 stopped next to me and asked me for directions to Gatwick airport. He showed me flight tickets from Gatwick airport, and a car rental agreement that he had to pay prior to flying out. He told me he had been to an exhibition, and as in the cases mentioned before, he had some samples that he did not want to take back because of export duty, and that he could really do me a favour.
He showed me three jackets, 2 of which were suede, and the other leather, on hangers with transparant clothes bags on them.
He said he would give me the suede ones for free as long as I brought the leather one from him. The price he wanted was 300, and I promptly told him what he could do with that price.
He was very insistant, seemed VERY genuine, and eventually I paid 100 for the three.
On getting these home, the clothing is not in fact poor quality, but is certainly not Armani as was portrayed.
I see from various other reports that this scam is being played from New York to Ireland.
I am normally not this gullible, but it is very easy to be taken in by the patter this man delivers.
