Beware of Projector Export... Price Mad & CompDirect, Inc. They are ALL the same rip off company. I had dealt with Jim @ Price Mad.com, in the past, with moderate satisfaction. However, I called Jim for a price on a Panasonic TH42PZ800U and was told he didn't have any. I searched the web and found Projector Export.com. Louis, the salesman, said he had it in stock and I got a price. Before hanging up, he tried to sell me a TH42PZ85U (which he claimed was better) with HDMI wires, etc. I replied NO, I want the 800U and that's final. He agreed and I gave him my credit card in order to comlete the sale. This was done on October 2. When I checked back to check the "order page", I found they had two different model numbers listed. One was the 800U (correct model) which was in the SKU box and the wrong model number, 80U, in the description box. I sent them at least three emails and called them several times pointing out the mistake and was told "we know about it... Don't worry about it". I kept checking the tracking number and finally called the trucking compay (they couldn't have been nicer) to find that the wrong model number was on the truck for delivery. They were sending the cheaper model (80U) instead of the better model, 800U. I called Projector Export and told them the 80U would not be accepted and they cancelled the shippment. I can't tell you how many times I was rudely tranfered from one person to another in an effort to get the correct TV delivered. They have yet to return one phone call or answer an email inquiry. I have checked their web site again (Oct. 16th) to find a new order number but, again, the same two model numbers are found on the "order page" which is wrong. They promised to correct the mistake but the error remains. They assured me that the correct model (800U) will be shipped.in the meantime, I checked consumer complaints to find many horror stories like mine and, in addition, they are sending "reconditioned" TV's instead of NEW. I can't attest to that fact because we haven't received the shippment as I intercepted the delivery truck which was carrying the wrong model. I did some additional research and found Projector Export and Price Mad have the same address @ 417 5th Ave., New York, N.Y. 10016. I called my contact @ Price Mad (Jim) and asked him about the address coincidence and he claimed he knew nothing about Projector Export and they merely must be in the same building. I had Jim's extension number @ Price Mad and called Projector Export.com. When I punched in Jim's extension number, at Price Mad, Jim answered the phone. No doubt they are one and the same outfit doing business out of the same office with different telephone numbers. I called Projector Export, and spoke to Jim, from Price Mad. He was upset that I called him and, again, he denied any connection with Projector Export. He said, I'm real busy call them (Projector Export) and take your complaints directly to them. Even when caught, in the obvious lie, he denied any connection. I know that CompDirect, Inc is the same operation and has the same address. I received an invoice with CompDirect's name on it when I purchased a TV from Price Mad in July.
It's been two weeks now and no TV. They put the charge thru on the credit card (they know how to do that in a speedy fashion) but have not delivered the correct model TV. The rudeness, the lies, the attempted switching and the possibility of refurbished TV's are enough to discourage anyone from dealing with either of the three outfits. I have called both numbers and found the SAME voices giving the prompts.in fact, it's Price Mad's Jim's voice on both number introductions. Their web pages are strikingly similar as well.
Stay away from these scam artists unless you want to be jerked around. I know they hope you give up and accept the delivered TV just to bring things to a conclusion. No need to take the model they send to you... Just don't do business with them.
