Check Processing Bureau Enforcement Division
CPB: How they almost got away with it!

My husband and I have recieved this letter stating that he had wrote 2 hot checks (adding up to $654.48) to a company in Fl. Well its a store that he use to go to but the only thing was that he hadn't lived in Fl. For 6 yrs now. We called the store but they couldn't give use any information.

Well then we got a letter stating that if we didn't send at least $100 that they would have a warrant out for my husband. Being a wife, mother, and young I was scared that my husband would go to jail. So we ended up sending them money in June. Needless to say that didn't stop anything.

After asking mulitiple times for copies of the checks and not recieving anything. Things finally started not adding up. We told them that we wouldn't send anymore money until we had proof.

Then we got another letter Sept. 2008.. Stating that we had failed to abide by the terms of the payment plan and that a Civil and/or Criminal Warrant was in process. When we got that letter we had red flags going up saying check into this further. (which we should of done before sending money but u can only learn from ur mistakes)

After checking into this further we found that you couldn't find them in the yellow pages. Then we searched them on the internet and thats when we found out that CPB was a Scam. We called the cops but they couldn't do anything since it was a civil matter but trust me we are not going to give up.

I just hope that the ppl that came up with this knows that they may had fooled us out of some money but that they won't do it again. We have learned from this and from now on we will be looking into anything and everything that we don't already know about. I hope that other ppl don't make the same mistake as we did. We will be doing further research and plan on talking to a lawyer.

Thank You to everyone out there that have had the same problem and reporting it because without you we would be screwed.
