The truth about my best friend harley

Yes I finally received a call back from the Ellerbach's after leaving messages for MANY days. After finding this site and talking with Humane Society in Jim and Karen's town.

The last message I stated I was going to pursue further action and that call was on 08/22/08 at 1:00 PM. I then called one more time 08/22/08 at 1:30 PM. Karen aswered and stated you were both (Jim and Karen) on vacation for the last week. If you arrived home as said on 8/22 that would put you gone on 8/15. You had no one aswering your phone or no emergency phone number on machine. Karen wanted purchase date and my name and told me she would call me back in half an hour. She did not.

I called back 8/22 at 2:30 PM. She then stated she was unable to find paperwork and wanted birthdate of dog and parents names of my dog. I gave her that information. She then stated she would call me back towards evening that she had one more place paperwork might be (on her desk). Why still on desk was going through my mind.

Karen called again 8/22 at 3:15 PM and wanted birthdate again and was still looking for paperwork. No further calls for the day. On 8/23 my boyfriend (Brad) called you. After talking for only a minute he handed phone to me. Jim and Karen were both on phone. Karen you constantly swore at me. I asked you to stop two times before you hung up phone. What did I do? I am only a customer who is unsatisfied. Is that how I should be treated?

Then I received the great experience of Jim. Jim you would not answer questions I asked, you don't even know when I purchased Harley (lost paperwork), you did not ask me for vets name OR number, however you did ask for proof from my vet. I am working on getting that for you. My vet wants to make sure everything is documented correctly and filed correctly. They are a great practice. I will mail that to you when I receive it, also if you would like X-rays sent to your vet, I need a phone number or address which I have not received. Per contact your vet needs proof. After being told by you (Jim) that I was pissing you off and hanging up on me two times I read your rebutal.

1) Per contract? Karen told me its lost. You guarantee pup for genetic defect (Harley has one since birth). Price value? Why would I want another puppy with same problems, and as asked on phone what about the one I have (you love your pets). Per your contract, it states price value too. Does that mean cash? So I should put him to sleep? Not responsible for vet bills? Wouldn't that be the ONLY logical choice due to close relation of Harley with bad hips and you are still breeding?

2) You asked me when I called originally, you didn't know, you were on vacation (is this correct)? Again I will be sending you proof from vet. Again you did not ask anything about MY vet. (Dogwood Pet Hospital, Mulford Rd., Loves Park, IL (815) 282-3371) I have no problem getting you information needed. All information you have received so far has been from ME!

3) As stated in 1) logical answer. Price is between $3800. And $4400. Per hip (Harley needs both) depending on size of dog. This was stated from University of Madison. Yes MY CONTRACT! Why am I the only one that has it? As stated in 2) proof is coming. I have 33 females adults? Breeding? You must have someone elses file, I live in Loves Park and we have rules and regulations here. 3 dogs are maximum. Harley is the first dog I have EVER PURCHASED. Too bad there isn't a law in Iowa!

4) As I stated in beginning Fri or Sat? Karen that is not what you told me.
Did you misplace the message? Misplacing? Yes I have misplaced, not for business though. How could I file taxes correctly?

5) As stated twice now, proof is coming. Noone asked you to change contract, I asked YOU (Jim and Karen) to hold to your contract! (genetic defect) Over a year ago? As stated twice now, where is your contract? Where is your proof? I have a signed contract and I was not able to reach you.

6) I NEVER said my dog was limping for a month. Is this someone elses file too? I took my dog to the vet after 3 days. I thought at first he may have pulled a muscle, this is common for people and pets. It wasn't until he fell for no apparent reason that I took him immediately. Again!!! Jim never asked for any information about my vet. You have it now, right? Yes Harley is in pain and on medication until I can take further action.

Now!!!

1) Why did you tell me two (german shepherds and labradoodles) when I specifically asked how many dogs you breed. I would have NEVER purchased if I had known.

2) Why are there so many reports of bad hips on just this site? Are there more sites and complaints? Karen you told me you haven't had ANY PROBLEMS OR COMPLAINTS when I specifally asked you at time of purchase.

3) Jim stated everything on this site is a lie. I haven't lied about anything. Jim stated reports to Humane Society are lies. Why didn't you ask me what the complaints were? Why would the Humane Society lie? I asked Jim about inspections to your farm as follows: I asked if you (Jim and Karen) have been sited for:
no propper lighting
no propper ventalation
122 missing paperwork or complete files
inpropper chipping of animals
kennels too small for animals to stand or turn around
ect... Ect...

Jim would not answer me.

4) Jim stated he COULD give me another pup. What about the one I have? Would you put him to sleep? You (Jim and Karen) stated that you love your animals, so what would you do? He's not suffering yet! (medication)

5) How was I supposed to reach you sooner? (you were on vacation without any other # right?) I had to get that from information, due to not on contract. I also see you are not in my paper and haven't been for some time. Why? What happened?

6) Why is there always a reason customer is unable to see parents on site. I asked about seeing parents AND set-up (kennels) before coming. You told me no problem. Why was I turned away after my 3 hour drive? (What was I thinking?)

7) Why did you treat me as a customer in the way you did? (swearing, contract, and giving me incorrect information)

8) How can you (Jim and Karen) care for all of these animals properly? Is it true you really do have 16 breeds? How many dogs do you have of EACH breed? Do you have horses and cows too? Anything else? I asked all of this when coming out to your farm.

9) Why did you (Jim) not answer me when I asked which dog has bad hips? (mother, father, grandparent)

10) Jim you told me you were going to sue me for slander for posting on this site several times. You had not even read my report first. What have I done to slander? Everything I have stated is true and fact. I WILL tell my story and express how I feel. You (Jim) told me this site is illegal. Why should I feel I have done something wrong? I DON'T!!! The only mistake I have made in this mess is: I didn't investigate your kennel before my purchase. I didn't ask anyone about puppy mills and how they are run. I had no idea. I still had faith that as a customer I would be told the truth by the business owner. That is what I am guilty of. Illegal? As far as being pissed off at me, why? What do you feel I did?

It looks to me like there are many unanswered questions in other reports as well. Are you able to answer "ALL" questions? It seems that you (Jim and Karen) change the subject and don't have answers for many specific questions (my opinion). Will you (Jim and Karen) only provide the truth? You (Jim) stated on the phone that I don't care about you (Jim and Karen). What is the problem, Ellerbach Kennels are making money, RIGHT? I want it to be clear this is only directed at my own experience and what I can do for my own family (including Harley). I hope anyone planning on purchasing a new pet will read this story. I also intend to make more contacts about what other options I can take. I sure hope that others don't have to endure what we did.

PS: For the record: Brad and I are not married and that is not his last name. Also you spelled my name incorrectly. Correct spelling is on the contract. This was also my (Tammy's) purchase, not Brad's. This is also on the contract. I also just received a letter from my vet (Dogwood Pet Hospital) and this will be mailed on 08/27/08 by registered mail. If any further information is needed you will need to inform me of what is needed with addresses provided.
