I recieved a letter in the mail that had no letterhead, no name listed on the front page. The letter is 3 pages front and back. It asks you to send no money. All you have to do is send back the last page with a box checked confirming your acceptance of a free "56-page package containing their Greatest Kept Secrets."
I knew it was a scam from the moment I began reading the letter. No one flatters you that much unless they want something. As I was skeptical, I decided to research this on the internet. I came across this website as well as a few others. All of the comments were the same. "This is a scam." "Burn this immediately." etc.
However, I noticed some of the details had changed. This posting is my way of warning you to the changes in the letter.
"Kristen Hart" is now simply known as "Kate" or "Katie." (The typist wrote Kate, but the letter is signed Katie.) There is no mention of a name for the society anymore. The letter simply calls it "the association."
The return address on the envelope you are to send back is
PO Box 6304
Dover, DE 19905-6304
The area code for the fax number is listed as Rochester/Niagra Falls. These are listed in New York. So far (counting the return address on the envelope you recieved the letter in) we're looking at 3 different states.
I have posted this to update you to the evolution of this long running scam. I have seen postings on this that go as far back as 2006.
Consumer be wary.
