If only I had knew about this site before ordering...
Today (New Year's Eve) I was about 10 minutes away from ordering Entertainment Weekly from the actual company, when someone knocked at my door. My dad answered it, but I was close enough to hear the perky teenager's voice. From what I caught, she was trying to get points to pay for college.
She noticed the FSU decal on my car and started small talk with my dad about how she hoped to go there. Since it seemed convenient, I gave her $30 cash I was planning on turning into a money order for EW.
But when she left, I noticed the receipt said "ET" as the magazine name and tried to correct the problem. The phone number I hunted down from online produced only a recording. Searching for the business name in GOOGLE.com produced only numerous consumer complaintss. I promptly followed the instructions for cancellation, but I doubt I will see my just received Christmas money again.
The salesperson was pleasant and even wrote up a small card and told me to tape it on my door. According to her, any other kids from the company coming to the neighborhood will see it and stay away. If they do approach me, I was told that I should throw a bucket of water on them ("company policy") for "cheating."
I will update this with any news I receive from the company, but I won't be waiting by the mailbox for my magazine. Either way, Hollywood, Fl beware, because they're in our area.
