In January of a young man came to my door, very charming, and told me he was selling magazines to support his kids as a single dad. He was enthusiastic and the magazine titles were good, so I ordered National Geographic Kids, Children's Digest, and Adoptive Families. I wrote a check for $150.
I was told the magazines would arrive in 120 days.in early April I contacted an 800 number on the receipt, and was told that they were using a new distributor and it put them about a month behind. Akua Pittman (could be Akua Pitman) gave me her name and direct line, so I felt good.
A month later, I repeated this process, talking again to Akua P. Only to be told they needed another month.
In June, I started calling her number: (805) 827-8201. It is her voice on the machine, but she hasn't returned any of my numerous calls over the last 2 months. I decided to give up, when I read Carl's posting.
Thanks Carl for the info, you have better contact info than I do so I plan to do the same. I'll let you all know how it goes. And yes, I have learned a valuable lesson about door to door sales. Unless is it a Girl Scout selling cookies, you can be assured I'm NOT buying!
