After graduating from Swift Academy in Phoenix, Albuquerque became my home terminal. I was assigned a mentor who taught me nothing, ignored regulations, never washed, smelled bad, and was always on the phone arguing with his wife. He cheated the company and asked me to do the same. After completing my so-called mentorship, I was told I'd be assigned a decent piece of equipment. It took ~ 1 wk. Before my truck was ready, during which I had no earnings, thanks to Swift. This "decent" piece of equipment broke down within the first week, and things went downhill from there.
From the beginning of my miserable short career with Swift, there was absolutely NO SUPPORT. NONE! Qualcomms were almost never returned; nor were phone calls. Since Swift seemed incapable of fixing the truck properly, I spent more time in the shop than on the road.in 107 degree Phoenix weather, I was told I couldn't get a PO for a room. I've seen drivers stand waiting at the terminal windows who were obviously tired and fresh from the road, and who were left standing there for 15-20 minutes while two DMs chatted behind the window ofthe locked office.
I could go on forever with my own bad experiences with this company. However, today, after being harassed about petty BS and DM errors (for which he claimed no responsibility), every time I stepped into my "supportive" home terminal, I finally gave up the ghost and quit. I'm passionate about driving. Driving is a lifelong dream of mine which Swift turned into my worst nightmare.
Support? Not!
Decent money? Not!
Newer equipment? Not!
Humane treatment? Not!
Numbers are far more important than people at Swift. This company will beat you to the ground and trip over you in their race to recruit warm bodies to replace all of us who give it their all until there's nothing left to give. Then, when they fire you or you quit in disgust, you acquire the National Debt. Nice deal, Swift! In my months on the road, I met no-one—repeat, NO-ONE—who had anything nice to say about this company!
I've looked at this site before and didn't want to believe what I was reading. Call me a true believer now.
People... Please, please, please, do your homework before signing up with this monster!!!
