I had a bad ex boyfriend who somehow got a hold of a few of my checks. His baby's momma wrote a bad check at a gas station for 50 some odd dollars, I didn't know, I was closing this account and my billing address for them was somewhere I had moved away from so I didn't know anything until my mom got a letter in the mail saying I needed to write a letter and plead my case. I did, I explained how sorry I was and how I had no idea about this until now and I didn't even write the check, but if they would set up payment arrangements I would pay it of in a few months, I just turned 20 and live on my own so money is really tight. I got a letter a few weeks later saying they passed a judgement for 653 dollars, and they said they never got my letter, WHAT A BUNCH OF SHIT. I gave them my whole state tax return and I am down to 147 dollars, but if I don't pay them by the end of this month, they say they are going to tack on a couple more hundred dollars and start to garnish my wages, I've pleaded and cried for just 2 more weeks, but they are not willing to help at all. They accused me of being a criminal and careless and told me this is all my fault, and that I knowingly wrote a bad check, I DIDN'T I PROMISE, PLEASE JUST CUT ME SOME SLACK PLEASE! I am so stressed and I'm am trust trying not to starve. Can this really be happening to me?
