Attention all Business Owners - Do not take any phone calls from anyone that represents Tax Law Advisors (TLA) or Scott Fussell. They claim to be able to put together a customized report to help you save money on taxes but it is all of a big scam.
First off, when ever you do business with anyone, you should research the business. If you research TLA or Scott Fussell you will find much that should at a minimum raise concern for why you would do business with them. Scott Fussell used to work for International Tax Advisors (ITA) in Chicago IL. He was fired by that firm about 5 years ago and came back to GA to set up shop. Scott was apparently warned by ITA to comply with the terms of his non-compete and other agreements he signed with ITA. Apparently, Scott did not listen as Scott is now being sued for copyright infringement. Go to http://dockets. So from the lawsuit, it appears that Scott stole intellectual property from his former employer and proceeded to market those services himself through his company TLA.
Having worked with Scott in the past, I am familiar with the intellectual property that is the basis for the lawsuit against Scott and I can tell you firsthand that Scott is guilty as charged. When I asked Scott if he had permission to utilize their material, he said that he did. Apparently something must be wrong with that story as why would he now be the subject of this lawsuit?
Second, by looking at this site you will find numerous complaints from ex-employees who have complained about not being paid commissions owed to them. I too fall in that category but have chosen to sue Scott/TLA for the money I am owed. I suggest any other ex-employees out there owed money do the same.
Third, I find the sales practices utilized by TLA to be deceptive and unethical. Some of their sales people are not upfront about the client's obligations under the contract they get them to sign which can provide for a very contentious situation for consultants that come in to meet with the client after the sales person is done. When I first came to work with TLA, I noticed that Scott had about 3 individuals he regularly used to provide referrals to unsuspecting clients considering if they should work with TLA. I later found out that these 3 individuals were getting paid by Scott to provide favorable opinions/testiomonies of TLA to entice clients to work with TLA. How unethical is that? During my time with TLA, thanks to the work I did and relationships I built with clients I worked with, I had clients provide genuine referral letters. It's amazing that after 5 years of serving clients, other than the paid referalls I already mentioned, Scott was unable to get any of his other clients to provide him with a genuine testimonial letter.
Fourth, TLA claims to put together a customized report for it's clients. This is no customized report as evidenced by the intellectual property copyright infringement lawsuit filed against TLA by ITA. Further, apart from some of the new strategies I introduced to Scott, the entire report is pretty much boiler plate so there is no research, time and expense put into this at all. To prove this, Scott will sell the same report to one client for $12,000 that he sells to another client for $60,000 and the only difference between the two reports is (1) the client's ability to pay Scott's fee and (2) the amount of taxes the client paid in prior years.
For these and several other reasons, I have severed my relationship with Scott and TLA and advise that anyone considering doing buisness with them to run the other way.
