Extortion tactics to collect a debt that is not valid

Eceived a call in the middle of the day from someone from this company who did not nor would not identify themselves. They claimed that I owed a debt from a company that I have never done business with or at least do not recall ever doing business with. It was a phone company.

At first I though it was a sales call and wasn't really paying attention. THen the person on the line starting demanding I pay this debt immediately over the phone. I refused. THey then continued to berate me into why wasn't I paying my debts.

I got to where I could get a pen and paper and I asked them to repeat what agency they were with, their name and to send me some sort of documentation proving I owed this debt. They refused, told me they were not a billing company and said why wasn't I going to pay my debt. As my husband and I's credit rating is impeccable and I monitor my credit report regulary I continued to deny I owed this debt and asked for proof. I also continued to ask for the company's name, the callers name, their supervisors name and a phone number. I refused to pay a debt I did not owe especially over the phone to an unidentified caller.

THe caller continued to "demand" i pay them and began trying to get my address, phone number, employment information and other personnally identifiable information which I refused to give. I again asked for their identity, proof of the debt etc and advised I'd have my attorney handle it. At that point the caller said they didn't need to tell me anything and that they were terminating the call
