This contractor failed to complete the jobs he was hired to do and refused to answer the complaints I filed against him with the Better Business Bureau.
I hired this guy to paint my house before we moved in and to install gutters. The paint job he did when he bothered to do it was pretty decent, except for the splatters on the wall, the paint on the ceiling, the paint on the carpet, the paint left on the light and electrical plates, and the parts he just plain failed to do. He was supposed to have done it in a week (no furniture was in yet and neither were we, he had the whole place unoccupied). He took another week and half past the deadline and asked for $300 more because he was "working 24 hour shifts". After painting the bathroom downstairs, he failed to put the light plate back on the switch and my 4 year old that was trying to turn on the light received a nasty shock (he had previously told us that day that he would "get right on it" after we pointed it out prior to the incident). He left paint cans everywhere, didn't clean up his mess, his crew smoked out on our back porch and left cigarette butts, and he would only show up for an hour, leave for 3 or so, then come back to work another 30 minutes and give some excuse about how he had to leave to get his wife or some such. I had to take days off of work just to babysit him to make sure he did everything and while I was there, the only problems I had were that he took off on a "quick" errand (which was 3 hours each time). Everytime I would call him, he would say "Oh I'm only 10-15 minutes away". He also never fixed any of the carpet problems like he said he would and left several parts of the ceiling painted even though he had said he had "gotten them taken care".
His work on the gutters was even worse. He put up the gutters everywhere except for the back porch. He said he would come back and finish them in a couple days as he had to go help his brother out with a job (one of his selling lines is that "I give my customers 100% of my attention and don't work on any other jobs until I am finished"). HE never returned. I called and left messages and email... Until he turned off his cell phone and domain name. I ended up doing the back gutters myself and cleaning up all of the trash he left all over the back and side yards. Another failing of his was that he did not seal the sleeves of the gutters and left off the sleeve in one section! So everytime it rains, I have this nice 1/2 inch gap between two pieces of gutter that water streams out of. He also forgot to put endcaps on a couple of other pieces. He also says that he guarantees his work for 4 years and has he lived up to that promise? NO! Another lie of his.
Maybe I'm a fool for this part of the story but I was trying to do the right thing. See, Jerry is a very convincing liar because he goes all out (he even brought his Bible to the worksite). He told me about his wife's health problems and how they were about to be kicked out of their place if he didn't come up with $400. He asked for the rest of the money and he promised he'd give me the change. Well being a sucker I did because I thought he was being honest... Shame on me. He worked for another few days and took off. I should have let him be thrown out on the street.
I've filed complaints against him with the Better Business Bureau and even after being given 5 weeks to respond to their letters, he failed to do so. Now I am reporting him here. I know I'll never get my money back or the services completed that I am entitled to but hopefully anyone who reads this in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area will not use this lowlife.
