Paul Davis Restoration - D&M Home Improvement & Remodeling
Terrible workmanship, does not complete work hired to do. Ripoff, girard

I hired Paul Davis Restoration, aka D&M Remodeling & Home Improvement to build an addition to my home. There were several changes that I was talked into by Mr. Burke, owner of Paul Davis franchise, but when the remaining interior work was close to being done he did not show up for work.

Two months later I called him and asked when he would be finishing the room. He made an appointment and never kept it. He then sent me a bill which I did not pay. He wasted no time in filing a mechanics lein on my home. I in turn retained an attorney and attempted to sue him for the work not done and the shabby work completed.
I had my home inspected twice by two different home inspection firms, then had 3 contractors come out and look at the work.

Low and behold there was $26,800.00 worth of work needed to correct his shabby work. One year later I needed my home released from his lein so I had to surrender, and this was not the first time he has run this technique. He doesn't complete his work, you do not finish paying him and he files a lein, waits you out and gets a settlement vs. A trial. Thus he then has nothing to tarnish his "good" reputation. I should have known better but I was blindsided for alot of money that he was always willing to take.

The windows and patio door he "special ordered" for my home was made at Del Storm, a company in Danville, IL. The owner came to my home to look at the windows that were off track and still under warrenty but since, according to him "I should have paid Mr. Burke the balance of the money I owed him, I might hsave gotten a warrenty or something pertaining to the windows" he would not honor his companies workmanship.

When I called the guy back I informed him that Mr. Burke was paid and settled, news to him since Mr. Burke had already told him I did not pay what I owed him. I found it quite humorous that the amount Mr. Burke owed him was the first part of the money I gave him and Burke settled for less than the lein was placed for.

DO NOT USE THIS GUY OR HIS COMPANY. They sure seem like crooks/con men to me. Of course that is my opinion.
