I received a letter from this company on July 2. The letter stated that we had won $154,500.64 dollars from a third catagory draw. It also stated we were selected through a computerized ballot.
I called the number listed on the letter which was 1-905-587-0005, to which a woman answered the phone "hello" and not with a company or professional greeting.
When I asked her how I could verify that this was a true winning and not some scam, she told me to deposit the enclosed check into our bank account and let it clear, then I could call her back for the second step of the process.
I proceeded to ask her what the second step of the process was, to which she was very vague and would only tell me to deposit the check and call her after it was deposited. Also when I asked her how I could verify this was not a scam, all she could tell me was to deposit the check and see that it clears and then I would know. She was very short with me and proceeded to hang up the phone on me.
After this I decided to look on the web and found similar scams with very similar addresses and phone numbers which come out of Canada. I am at this point calling the better business bureau as well as the backs listed on the check to inform them these people are using their names to proceed with their little scam.
