Craaftmatic Adjustable Beds UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES - AGENTS AND CUSTOMERS Trevose Pennsylvania

Salespeople and Customers Beware!
I was recently a salesperson for Craftmatic. Craftmatic guaranteed me 2-3 leads a day Monday through Saturday.in order to give me these leads they would beg people to "please let the nice lady visit you." I received $50 for every complete presentation — nothing if the person would not let me in or let me finish the presentation.

One telemarketer told people they had won the bed and I was coming to show them how to use it. These people confirmed with Craftmatic that the bed was free, no taxes, no shipping. All they were asked to do is tell their friends how much they liked the bed. One such person who thought they won it actually wanted to buy but Craftmatic would not give them credit. So my leads were sometimes seniors on SSI who could hardly afford their medications let alone buy an expensive bed.

You may get 2-3 leads a day, but most of them have either been lied to or coerced into letting you in the door because they you "may" win a bed. They say they give away one bed a month but it is the lowest priced bed which I don't believe they even manufacture.

If the person does not buy immediately, the salesperson has to call Executive Sales who tells the salesperson to offer a similar model without the remote control supposedly "last years model." This drops the price $1,000. If they still do not buy, another call to Executive Sales is made. This time Executive Sales speaks to the customer. These are pushy, high pressure salesmen trying to get the sale because they get a commission if they do. I have had several customers so upset with these calls I was afraid they would have a heat attack. Craftmatic's response: "We never lost a customer."

The sales plan is that only stupid people buy at the first price offered. If they are stupid and buy, you make the full commission. If they say no they get $1,000 off, and if they say no again the price is lowered until they get down to the lowest price they can sell at. I believe this to be "bait and switch" for which they have been sued but continue to do.

Another agent told me he had a customer who wanted to buy 5 of the lowest priced beds. Craftmatic would not sell them. I don't think they even manufacture that model. If you win it they probably attempt to upsell to a more expensive bed. (Is this bait and switch?)

I could not continue to work for a company with unethical and illegal business practices. Other salespeople are only out to make money and don't care—or choose to be bind to these activities.

PLEASE - If you have encountered this treatment REPORT Craftmatic to your Attorney General. The reason they continue this unethical and illegal activities is because senior citizens are too nice to report them. They don't want to cause trouble. This company needs to learn that consumers will not tolerate this behavior.
