Charging her tenants $500.00 a month, plus utilities. These utilities right now include water and electricity. Her tenants are ex-criminals. Most of them are sex offenders. My brother is one of her tenants, charged with a sex offense, but didn't commit the crime. He is locked up in the court system, and we have tried desperately for eleven years to get him freed of his charges. We can't afford an attorney to help us. It costs thousands of dollars which we do not have.
She has the tenants working on her building, renovating it, but does not pay them. She has told my brother in no soft words that he is subject to go back to jail soon if his back rent is not paid. The rent, $500.00, plus utilities, is so hard for my brother to come up with each month. The landlord knows that he has no job right now to pay his rent. He has a hard time keeping jobs because of his criminal charge and his lack of experience. He is a slow developer, tries so hard to please everyone, but doesn't have the mental and physical skills to do the job. He has shoulder and knee pain from past injuries and surgeries. I wish so hard to be there for him, but my family is tied up in Maryland right now. My husband has cancer, is unemployed, and we are struggling too to meet each of our bills that come in the mail.
Ms. Pridgett was suppose to find cheaper housing for my brother, but hasn't tried to do it for some reason or another. I think she takes advantage of him and the other tenants because she knows she can get away with it.
I don't want my brother back in jail. Is there anyone out there that reads this that thinks they can help him. He has been robbed of his whole life from her on out because of fraudulent charges made by his previous boss, who was also his landlord and allowed my brother to live in his home for six years prior to the fraudulent charges one December day back in 1989, (or somewhere around that time period).
My brother has been locked up numerous times for bogus reasons. Sometimes they keep him in jail, and other times they let him go. Florida is very strict about having sex offenders on the streets. They want them to have an address, hopefully one that they can afford month to month. Ms. Pridgett is charging way too much and these offenders will have no choice but to go back to jail eventually.
My brother can't even afford to really eat good or seek medical assistance when he needs it. No one seems to think he qualifies for anything. He of all people should be able to obtain anything from the state of Florida since the state owes him for wrongful arrest and incarceration throughout these past eleven years.
God be with all of you. If any one can stop Ms. Pridgett from continuing to cheat her tenants, please do so. It is not fair and my brother should not have to worry day by day if he has a job or even a bed in someone he can call home.
