On December 12 a girl knocked on my door telling me that she was in some sort of contest to go to europe. She seemed really nice and told me that the magazine offer was a really good deal. After some research I found that this company basically charges you triple of what you can subscribe to a magazine by purchasing a magazine and filling in the insert. So when I realized this I called my bank to cancel payment on the check. Also, I called the company to get a letter showing that the check had not been deposited and that they have sent my check or a copy of it back to me. When I called I kept being told that the accounting department would be contacted me. That was at 9 am on 12/14. I called three more times after that.
Finally at 2:45pm I called and again I was told that the accounting department would not speak to me until they had the issue resolved. So I stated to the receptionist that yeah the company can take a check but can't talk to me when I need aswers. Also, the receptionist had stated to me that the accouting department was trying to get a hold of their bank to check the status of that check. Now I also stated to her that how come when I call a back on the status of a check they can tell me within seconds that status of a check i. E it's cleared, been cashed but not cleared or not in the bank yet. So I questioned her and she very rudely stated to me that an accountant would call me when she could. But that she would not speak to me until the matter was taken care of. I requested a fax and for a call as soon as possible. But, I have yet to see the fax or hear from them. My advise to anyone is don't open your door to sales people and don't listen to people who try to sell you stuff so they can win a prize or a trip. It's a rip off.
