I had been looking for another job just before Christmas. I saw an ad in the newspaper that stated:
Receptionist

I called and taled to a girl named Ashley that said to just come down for an interview in a half hour. So i rushed over there and walked in and saw a bunch of people waiting. It looked small for an office and didnt seem to busy to need more than one receptionist. I assumed that the young girl was quiting, so i just waited. She handed me a questionaire i filled out and told me i would be seeing Iris in a few moments.
I went in with 2 other people for a "group meeting." It didnt last very long. She had asked us what our goals were and how much money we wanted to make and why we left our previous jobs.
Then she gave each of us a call back time for later that evening for a 2nd interview.
I called at 6:18 that night and was told to come back tommorow for a 2nd interview. What she negelcted to tell me is that i would be there for 4 hours and with 20 or more people.
When i got there there were several people walking around and loud music playing. Finally we all went in and Iris introduced "boss" or Chris, which didnt look very professional. Then they had us write down a list of cities. Chris had told us that the company was expanding and they needed some canadites to open up some new offices and be managers making $52,000 a year!
As we all sat and wondered, they kept telling us to save all questions for later.
Again after the 4 hour interview was about to end, Chris went through and aasked random people why they should be hired, and actually hired 2 peopleon the spot. Then they gave us yet another call back time and told us to call later that evening to be told if we were hired.
I called and i was told to bring a 3 ring binder, paper and a pen. The next day, i was told that they were the #1 distributer in frangrence sales and that they were featured in magazines.
Chris and Iris explained the first week we are FNPs Famously New Person which you can figure out really means F*ing New Person. We were told about the training process and that we were to forget everything we thought we knew about sales and go by what they tell you. The FFAAR Friends Family Acquaintances and Relatives where they get most of their sales. The Power Car / Power Pair Up. They told us training is torture and it would be boot camp with a smile. Most importantly that we couldn't expect to get rich in training. But any questions were to be answered Monday.
We were fed a bunch of bs about all the paid vacations we would go on with the company if we survived the training. Chris told us he has a $250,000 penthouse in downtown Denver and just got a flat screen TV and new car. Which i found funny because my friend had met him at a night club and found out something totally different and didnt put two and two together until we talked. Anyway the car is a rental that the "career" pays for on a daily basis but has every intention of buying when it takes off. The pent house was a lie, my friend said she dropped him off at a friends because it was "more convienient". Why not go back to your nice new place with a girl?
We were told about the contest to see who can sell the most perfume to FFAAR. Whoever did the best would win $950. Anyone who quits is referred to as a woops a WPS, which stands for Weak Piece of Sh*.
Then on Monday less people came back. We were told we did the worst in the company's history and only sold 22 rendition perfumes to FFAAR. People were given $1, $5 and $10. What happened to $950? We were told how to sell the perfume telling people that it is the name brand and what a great deal they were getting. If a business says no solicitation we were to go in anyways and tell them "i'm not from sicily" or some other chessy line to try to get a sale. Iris even told us that one of the girl a couple weeks before us got arrested, but not to worry!!! We were told to wear comfortable shoes on Wednesday. That's when I figured out we were going to be selling on the streets using our own gas money and not getting any pay for it.
Well how right was I?! We got there and there were some people who had made it through training to help us learn how to read the products. They asked what 4 we wanted and sent us out with a box another person and a third to drive if you didnt have a car. They gave us a time to be back also.
On my adventure, i was walkingwith no money, food, or jacket in snow on 1st and federal! My "leader didn't seem to care about this at all! We walked into several buisnesses and were asked to leave. My leader even asked me to approach a young man and spray a fragrance on him and blow and tell him he just got a "blow job" and would recieve the "real thing" if he bought it!
I refused and she got very angry. Well i went through the day and when we got back, a girl was late and they sung this horrible song where at the end it was "you stupid piece of sh* your late and pushing her around as if it were a mosh pit.
I went on a few more days and finally asked when we got our w-2s for tax reasons. Iris told me it was a 100% commision. So at that point after wasting time and money i gave up. Chris was
"nice" enough to tell me to enjoy Mcdonalds and serving them and they can't believe i wasted their time. Iris however tried to talk me out of it and i bascially laughed.
They tell you not to listen to anything negative your friends and family have to say and that they are just trying to kill your dreams.
I think it's ridiculous to call anyone who quits a job with NO PAY a WPS. Chris and Iris are very good actors so I don't want anyone else to fall for this.
If you see an this ad or one just like it, dont waste your time or money, it really is too good to be true!
