This summer I purchased magazines from a young man named Shaun who was selling them to win a trip. I was hesitant but the young man assured me that if I was unhappy I could cancel anytime and he would still earn half his points. After I wrote the check and Shaun had left I looked at the receipt which said I would have to cancel my order in writing within 3 days. I live in Illinois, no way my letter to cancel would get there in 3 days.
Instead I got on the computer and found this site. Afte reading what had happened to others I decided to cancel my check. Two weeks later I received a paper from their collection agency that said I owed for the subscription and the stop payment. I called to dispute this but all I received was a rude man nmed Raymond defending Sunshine Suscription Agency.
He told me I had to pay because I would have received my magazines it just takes a long time to get them. Afer a lenghty conversation and me getting nowhere with my dispute I asked for the number to Sunshine Subscriptions which he gave me.
When a lady in the customer service department answered the phone I told her what was going on. She was very rude and told me canceling a check wasn't how to handle the problem but that they would have accepted a request to cancel if the postmarked date was 3 days from the day I had made the purchase. No where on he receipt does it say this and at the time I had no phone number.
Now I am trying to do all I can before this goes on my credit report. I don't feel I was in the wrong, but I do think something needs to be done about this company and the collection agency working for them.
