I bought a $2500.00 cream dachshund puppy from Rendach AKC Dachshunds. The contract called for a full refund if puppy was found to have ANY genetic defects in first year. At 6 months, the puppy was found to have an extra vertabre and two fused vertabre. She also has Spina-Bifida and deformed hip bones. She was purchased as Show/Breed prospect. Obviously, she cannot be shown and cannot breed as she will probably produce like puppies. The contract said ANY genetic defect and as per vet these are defects bred into her, not contracted diseases. The dogs back pops and she walks bowlegged. She (the breeder) asked us to have her spayed (at our expense) and send her back to her and she would then sell us another dog at companion price (about $1500.00). No refund mentioned. Who, in their right mind, would pay another $1500.00 to the breeder, just to get waht they were supposed to have in the first place? The contract clearly states a full refund or replacement of like bred puppy for any genetic defect. I do not wish to deal with unscupulus breeders like this. I want my $2500.00 refunded and I will refund the puppy.By the way, this will not be easy as we have come to love the dog, but she is not what we purchased.
