Hi! Today, June 1, I was approached by a man claiming to be Italian who was in DC for a fashion show. The guy said he was flying back to Italy tonight and had some very expensive Giorgio Armani jackets left over from the show. He didn't want to bring the jackets back to Italy to avoid paying taxes upon his arrival in Milan. Though I had a feeling it was a scam, I went for it because the jackets look genuine, have all the logos, labels, etc., and the guy spoke in fluent Italian (I work the Italian government!).
Upon returning home, I went online and searched the story. Turns out to be a worldwide scam! I immediately called the Fairfax County police. A very unfriendly officer came to my home, took the report and said that there's NOTHING they can do for me & to chalk it up as a learning experience for the future. My ATM and Walmart's cameras surely took video of this guy's license plates. Please help! Marco
