I too was a fool to be deceived by this free poetry contest. The very first poem I submitted to this contest was choosen as a finalist.
I received several letters with promises to be choosen to win up to $10,000. And my poem would be published. Of course I was excited. I thought, "wow", someone finally recognized me. Yeah right. Shortly afterward, I received another notice stating my poem would be recorded on an audio tape. And yet another notice saying I was cordially invited to attend a symposium to be recognized for my poetic talent, etc. Etc. Etc.
Each notification came with a price, $50. For the book of anthology, another amount to purchase the audio tape and then about $500. To attend the convention. That's when I realized, I'd been had.
Thank goodness I was only foolish enough to buy the two copies of the book and not the other invitations that soon followed (with a hefty price tag).
I'm appalled at this company for preying on innocent and naive people who are looking for a little notarity in their lifes. I'm appalled at myself for falling for it.
As I said, once I started receiving all these notices, I realized what their game was. I'm glad I didn't continue to purchase from them.
Now that I have read your reports, I can't believe how BIG of a scam this really is. I'm ashamed and felt writing this report might help me. I don't even think I'll tell my family. I'm too embarrassed.
P.S. My niece is in 2nd grade and she too was choosen as a finalized when her class room wrote poems about grandparents. Her mother, my sister, also bought two books. These people are making a fortune. Stop them. They're hurting more than our pocket books, their hurting our pride!
