I am filing this report in hopes that anyone thinking of hiring William McClain will check this site first... And run as far away from him as humanly possible!
"Billy done smoked up my playstation and camera in his crackpipe"
Before he sold all his tools for crack, Billy worked all over Philly as a roofer, electrician, and all-around handyman. He used to be somewhat honest and hardworking, but he started smoking rocks so you can basically figure out what happened from there...
I was friends with Billy for a few years, even introduced him to my best friend Lisa, who he dated for a year up until January. From May to January Billy was staying with both me and at Lisa's the other half the time. He did not pay me any rent, but agreed to fix things around my house and run errands in exchange for room and board. During this time, he was working with a friend Joey from Fishtown doing roofing, and freelance handyman jobs.
Around November, I started to notice things missing from my house (money, a digital camera, jewelry) but I did not want to believe that one of my best friends was stealing from me. On Christmas, all my Xmas money from my family disappeared and I stupidly believed that I had dropped it at my uncles, and one of the little kids took it.
In the beginning of January, I went to Baltimore to see my then-boyfriend and I was there when I recieved a call from my bank, telling me that my account was overdrawn because of checks written out to "William McClain". HE HAD FORGED THESE CHECKS TO HIMSELF!!! I called Lisa, his girlfriend, and she told me that her account was also overdrawn - Billy had found out her pin number, and over a 2-month period had been taking her ATM card while she was sleeping and been using it, then putting it back in her purse before she woke up. I called his boss trying to find him, and found out that Billy had broken into his storage place and stole all his tools! The funny thing is, right before I left, Billy had come by with a whole bunch of tools claiming that someone gave them to him for a job...
I had to rush back from Baltimore, and came home to see that my playstation was gone, my CDS were gone, and $500 was missing. I immediately changed my locks - Billy called me that night, saying he was coming home, and I told him that I knew he was a crackhead and to stay away. I live in the ghetto, and they sell that stuff down the street on the corner, I went and talked to the kids standing there and they confirmed that they had been selling him crack (yes, theres some dumb drug dealers out here)
So, that night Billy broke into Lisa's house all cracked out and threatened to kill her. We both called the cops and they did nothing for us! In Philly the cops never do anything until its too late, I hear gunshots all the time and they only come like half the time. They said that we couldn't get him arrested for robbery (even tho he's on parole) 'cause technically in PA, if "someone has as much as a toothbrush at your house, they technically live there and have a right to enter your home and take whatever they want". They said we had to go to the municpal building and get restraining orders on him - I got denied to even fill out the application 'cause the person needs to be family or someone you had a "intimate relationship" with. Lisa got hers, but it wont go into effect until she sees him on the street, and can somehow hold him there while she calls a cop and they serve it to him. Also, my bank gave me back the money for the checks, but as far as I know, the law still hasn't acted on this.
Anyway I broke into the backroom where Billy was staying, I had never looked in there before, and I saw that his tool belt was empty, he was sleeping on a dirty stained mattress with no sheets, all the room had was a mattress, clothes on the floor, black mold on the walls, there was a big hole in the floor, and the trashcan was full of empty crack bags and a broken crack pipe and brillo pads! All my spoons were up there too.
Lisa broke into the lock box he had at her house and she found a buncha crackbags and her gold ring.
I was able to track down where he stashed his boss's tools he stole, and I told his boss and he went and got them. But now Billy is running around Philly ripping people off, he told a friend that he was gonna install a furnace, and he took 300 to go to Home Depot and never came back. He also robbed his own sister, who has a newborn baby, and is poor.
Billy is still buying crack on my corner and he has tried to break in my house, and is threatening me over the phone, leaving messages. The cops won't do anything to help me, and I called his parole officer like 12 times and she never answers the phone or calls me back. I want people to know that if something happens to me, he is probably the one who did it, he is so delusional and he blames me for kicking him out even though he robbed me and my best friend and smoked crack. The cops dont wanna help, but maybe if I turn up missing, someone on usacomplaints.com will tell them who to question.
To reiterate, Billy is still around and still scamming people, he is a good liar and acts like he knows what he's doing, but if you don't want to be robbed by a crackhead, stay away!
