A telemarketer from Infocom USA, Inc. Called up my office and asked the receptionist for her name and address.
A few days later, a telemarketer called again and asked for payment of an invoice. My Accts/Pay clerk said she had no copy of the invoice they were questioning.infocom faxed an invoice copy for $299.95 for a "Business Communications Package, Two Year Bold Listing". We told them that this is not a valid charge, we never placed a listing (in whatever publication? Who knows!?). Their rep said that our receptionist had approved it and they had a recording of it.
We told them that our receptionist would NEVER authorize such a charge. She simply doesn't have the authority. They said that if we didn't pay it they'd turn us in to a collection agency. I told them that they are running a SCAM and they can go ahead and do what they like, we will not be paying this fraudulent charge. Their rep said in that case she would call us every two days until we DO pay it. I told her to go ahead and waste her time, or better yet go find another job that isn't a SCAM job.
I instructed all my staff that if anyone from Infocom USA, Inc. Calls the office that they should hang up on them. I doubt we'll get a single call.
