I went for an interview at Alpha Development concepts, or Diversified Corporate Solutions, and they told me they have a new kind of marketing.
They said they like to be face to face with their clients.
Little did i know that they consider every person to be their client, and when they say face to face they mean they just walk into businesses all day long and try to sell them something.
I had a preliminary interview and thought everything was fine.
And then I got a second interview which was an entire day, 8-5, of walking into 40 different businesses with Erin, a 'marketing rep' who insisted that these companies switch to First Horizon, which is a company who offers 2% on each credit card swiped. Everytime a store owner told her they were busy, or that she had just walked in without asking or setting up an appointment, she kept pushing, and I was only able to offer a sympathetic smile to these poor people who were being invaded by the obnoxious sales persona of Alpha Development Concepts. She kept insisting that 'at least she wasnt a telemarketer because then they could just hang up'. I had to learn the four tactics for sales, fear of loss, indifference, and the others which i have forgotten due to my conscience. Dont interview there if you want to be able to be proud of what you do.
