Having read reports on this site about Innovage, I would like to draw the public's attention to Dalton Management in Asheville, NC, which is another Innovage regional office, run by a woman named Beth Dubrock. My experience of Dalton Management is very similar to many of the reports for Innovage on this site - I applied to a job advertised as a graduate entry-level management position in marketing and went through their first interview and second interview (observation of a day's work) stages. I was very suspicious of their activities after my first interview (during which the interviewer was unbelievably vague about their area of work) but did not hear the name Innovage mentioned until the observation day. This day was spent observing an extremely enthusiastic, but completely money-driven and immoral, salesperson whilst they went about their day's work.in brief their day's work involved driving to a small regional town and driving from shop to shop, small business to small business, trying to sell very low-quality products to the employees who work there before the manager appears to kick them off the premises. It is marketing at its very basest level.
As with all Innovage companies, I was promised that, provided I put in the hard work, I could be earning $50,000 to $100,000 within six months and could open my own franchise. Throughout, I was sickened by the company's obsession with making money at the expense of everything else and the shameless tactics that they would employ to con hard-working low-paid workers out of money. For instance, the salesperson that I was observing told every customer that a portion of their payment would be donated to the 9/11 firefighters appeal. She later told me in confidence that it wasn't true - the company had made a donation to the appeal but that none of the sales profits would go to good causes.
Dalton Management is a company run by people with cult-like abilities for luring in unsuspecting job-seekers. The workers are desperate individuals who will go to any lengths to try to win the favor of their demanding managers, working 6 or 7 day weeks, 12 hour days, where vacation is frowned upon. I was told by the manager "if an employee asks for a day off, I take it as a sign of a lack of commitment to the job. They can take as much as they like, but they can forget their chance of promotion".
I left the second interview pretty certain that I was not going to accept a position if I was offered one. Reading testimonies of other past Innovage employees on this website affirmed that decision. I would recommend anyone reading this report not even to apply to a job at Dalton Management.
