CornerStone America
Deceptive Employment Tactics, Look Out Pittsburgh!

I started with an E-mail from a company I never herd of. Bill Kuenzel from Cronerstone America was notifying me that my resume, which was posted on monster.com, was reveiwed and I had the quailifications they were looking for in a "careforce representative." So I set up an interview, out of curiosity, for a job that I never applied for.

The interview turned out to be a group interveiw/company presentation in a conference room, located in Penn Center West, where I might add there are no offices for Cornerstone. Bill and two other reps (one being his wife) came in and Bill led off the presentation. The first lie came when he apologized for the group interview because they don't normally do it this way.

They asked for a resume from us, and passed out brochures about the Cornerstone's benifits package, which ironically there was no mention of health insurance. The brochure made no sense, but apparently we were to mesmerized by all the benifits we would have hocking health and life insurance for this company.

The next lie came when bill showed suprise when no one in the room has ever heard of Cornerstone or UICI, stating that they advertise during two radio programs brodcasted in the area (both of which I listen to daily and have never heard any advertisments).

Bill was fast talking, really never got into the nuts and bolts of the job, only talking about the benifits for us and the customer (check out the numerous class action lawsuites), and all money we would make. We would get $100 dollars for every $60 policy we sell, and recieve residual payments (commission) for years after, with retirement following in 10 years (which the small print on the benifits brochure states retirement paymnets don't start until you reach your 50th birthday. I don't know how they can afford to pay out such amounts!

They gave use brochures about the types of insurance we would be selling, but did not let us keep them. And in the end it would only cost use $250 to to have the privilege of working for cornerstone america, the costs to get the various insurance selling licenses needed. And we were apparently luck because it cost Bill hundreds more when he first joined!

Then came the individual "interveiw, " the first question I had was where were their offices located? To which he responded "back there." When I asked for clarification he said in another builded in Penn Center West, they just like using this conference room for interveiws. He did not really answer any of my questions, and advised that if they were interested Bill would call me between the hours of 8 and 9 pm that night (Why at night?). I did receive two calls from Bill, but I didn't not answer. It all seemed to shady.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! After reading through the reports on cornerstone I noticed that all of the rebuttles by loyal cornerstone reps all spew the same company line (no motivation, bad work ethic, ect...), and the rebuttles are from the same people!

I never bothered with Cornerstone after the "interveiw, " but one thing is clear, its a rip-off.
