Shoddy Maintenance issues ruined $1500.00 of my personal property

I am a tenant of Brant Rock Condominiums in Houston Texas. I moved in to these Condominiums in December. Upon move in I had asked that several items in the condo be replaced or repaired. Only emergency items were done after I was told that everything would be repaired. I still have broken tile around my fireplace, some of it still breaking. Although this is only a cosmetic issue, I was told by Lisa, (the leasing agent at the time) that all items would be repaired.

On February 2 I had a water leak in my condo due to a faulty pipe in the walls behind my closet. I caught the leak at a point where it was just a small puddle and promptly removed my shoes and clothing and put them on another side of the room or in a box in the living room. I was told that maintenance would be in the home within the hour. This was at 10:00am in the morning. I returned home at 7:30pm to find that the entire bedroom floor was soaked; ruining any clothing that was on the floor. I also found no evidence of maintenance entering my apartment (they are required to leave a note). I promptly called maintenance, they showed up about 30 minutes later and told me that he had tried to come in but there was no key available. He shut off the pipe in the vacant apartment behind me and no more leak, but the carpet was still soaked. It wasn't until Wednesday that I was able to get in touch with yet another new leasing agent, Devette, who had no clue about my troubles the weekend before. They had called a cleaning service for the Condo behind mine, but had failed to do so for mine. I then got attitude when I told her that because of the mold problem, I expected it to be replaced. When they showed up Friday, there was no replacement carpet. At this time I had to accept just an enzyme treatment and cleaning because of the Apartments shoddy maintenance rules. The carpet dried, I noticed no mold or foul smell and the clothes that were ruined were old fat-clothes that I can no longer wear so I let it go. The following week I had to contact the office because of a brown stain on my ceiling. I got the answering service and no one responded. Imagine that.

On February 22 I was contacted by Angel, Brant Rock's Manager, and was asked to remove boxes from my Patio. At that time informed her about the brown stain on my ceiling that was getting larger. I asked her to have it repaired before it became a larger problem. This was at 11:30 on a Friday morning. I returned home that evening at 7:00pm to find no evidence of maintenance being in my condo, and the familiar large brown stain on my ceiling. I had plans that weekend to go out of town, so I left, assuming that they would handle the problem on Saturday. Sunday morning at 1:00AM I arrive home to find my ceiling on my bed which was now a giant sponge keeping the water from penetrating the carpet. This bed was purchased at the beginning of December a king size Sealy Posturepedic bed with pillow top. The bed delivery totaled $1000.00. I also had a Velvet Comforter on the bed that was purchased for me by my Parents in 2000 that cost $250.00, along with another pillow top that I had purchased at $150.00 When you add linens (I will be fair) total of what was ruined comes to a staggering $1500.00. I have asked that the Complex replace everything due to their negligence, and they refuse. I was even told by Angel that they didn't have anyone come in on Friday because she thought it was just a paint job. I told her that since I had mentioned that the stain was getting larger that it was obviously a water leak. She then tells me that she had someone enter the vacant apartment above mine (no witnesses to verify) to fix what she thought was the problem. Never mind the fact that there is concrete between the floors, she still should have had someone pull down the plaster in my condo to verify that the leak was repaired. When I called the emergency # at 1:30am on Sunday, they couldn't even fix the leak then due not having the proper tools. It was not clamped off until 11:30am Sunday morning. Approximately 2 days of the bed being leaked on. The actual repair did not happen until Tuesday, and they are supposedly fixing the Sheetrock today. The ceiling fan won't be replaced for a couple of weeks.

The stories of Angel, Devette and the maintenance man have all also changed. I was told by Angel that no one came in on Friday, Devette produced a work order that Angel supposedly wrote up at that time to have someone in there that day. The maintenance man told me Tuesday morning that he did not come into the home on Friday, but when questioned in front of Devette after she produced the work order, he swears he did and forgot to leave a note. Aimco, the Apartments Management Company has been contacted. Sandra Dilly, the person who handles this account listened to my story on Tuesday at noon, and as of today, (Wednesday at 8pm) I have still not heard from her.

I am writing this in hopes of:
A: receiving any kind of help you can give
B: Warning potential residents and current residents of the dangers to your personal property and maybe your health.

Don't put yourself through the agony I have gone thru.

Sincerely,
Screwed on Brant Rock Drive.
Houston Texas
