Ripoff-please be aware! Again ripoff! Take caution!
It looks like Word of Faith Ministries was, or is affilated with Saint Matthews Church out of Tulsa, OK.
I fell into this scam after seeing this ministry on TV for Pastor Tilton Word of Faith Ministies. He said that if you make a vow of $1000 to the Lord, you will reap a great harvest. Of course, like many others it is easy to fall into traps like this when you are looking to get out of desperate situation, in which I did.
Soon after filling like I was "one of the many people" who needed to respond to this "vow of commitment". I picked up the phone and made the pledge of $100 a month. I was very skeptical at first, but decided to do this because "it was a vow to the Lord"- not to Mr. Tilton.
A couple days later, I got a 4 page letter asking for the pledge amount or to make payments.in this letter a dollar bill was included. With this dollar bill you were supposed to put it in the bible for 24 hours by a verse. Then send your pledge amount, along with the dollar bill and prayer request back to him promptly. Also he stated that he was going to give you annointing oil.
Well, after sending the pledge to him. I got another letter in the mail the next day, that included scriptures, testimonials, and WEEKLY ACTION OF FAITH pledge cards. Are you kidding me, now I have to give WEEKLY!
After not giving any more money I decided to come here to see if his organization was listed on this site. No inquries were found under WORD OF FAITH. So I thought maybe this is legitmate, but my intuation wanted to search more.
I saw a lot of complaints for SAINT MATTHEWS CHURCH located in guess what? Tulsa, OK.interesting enough, both P.O. Boxes were similiar and the zip codes were the SAME. When I saw this, I knew that I too, had been had! All it took was a name change and a different P.O. Box.
It is bad, enough that their are evil people out there that prey on taking your money. But, to use the LORDs name to do it is just insane! Yes, you may call me gullable, even stupid, but that does not give anybody the right to take advantage of others and their wallets.
I just want to let other people know that it is not about you being stupid or inferior for falling for stuff like this. Because we all can, and most likely have, fallen for a scam one way or another - period! (Even if you have done research).
Whether it's about informercials, religious programs, auto issues, etc. The way that these people generally scam is through "FALSE ADVERTISING, REALLY FINE PRINT, FAST TALKERS, MAJOR DECEPTION, ETC.
