I have lived in Heron Walk Apartments (a gated community) for about nine months now. My husband noticed the buildings were too close together and not enough parking spaces before we signed our lease. He went on to ask the leasing agent if there was enough parking for everyone, the leasing agent assured us parking would not be an issue.
He also said "in fact we write down your tag #'s and we keep them on file in order to keep up with our tenants". We also notice that there was a "dip" on the sidewalk. My husband went on to ask if there was any flooding, the leasing agent replied that there had not been any flooding reported.
As a result of insufficient parking, residents were forced to park along the sidewalk or on the other side of the apartment complex. One night we parked along the sidewalk because there wasn't any parking left and our car was towed away costing us $125 to get our car out. We went to the office to report it and they just told us that it was our fault for parking "illegaly" and that they couldn't do anything about it.
Also there was issues with flooding, which we have pictures as proof and cars were being broken into because the gate broke down three to five months ago and to this date it still does not work. We reported all of these issues and not one of them was addressed!!!
Our car was towed for the second time and my husband "out of fury" blasted all the windows to our apartment. The cops came and we admited to it, we are willing to pay for all of the damages. The apartment complex evicted us and in the letter of eviction they are specifying that even though we dont live there any more, we are liable for the 5 months worth of rent that were left over from our lease.
We gave them a letter detailing the reasons why we should not be liable for those months and we have not heard a response back, we told them that we are going to pay for the damages. We have no problem with that.
