Do not have any dealings, or donate money to Wendy Studebaker, AKA Wendy Rohde, she thinks she runs an animal rescue. She moves around alot but her last actual location was in Maricopa AZ where her and her loser, drunk husband took in animals at a house they were either renting, or lost to foreclosure.
The property was a disgusting mess and Wendy's animals received minimal treatment. She had numerous complaints by neighbors who were concerned about the way the property looked.
In 8 the AZ Dept of Livestock actually seized all the animals. 11 or 12 horses, some dogs and cats, 2 donkeys and some sheep-including a mare and a 6 month old colt. It was treated as a case of abandonment as they had ditched all the animals for several days with NO food or water. The neighbors provided just enough food for the animals to get buy until Livestock came and got them. There is a seizure report available to those who want it, so this is not made up.
Wendy called Livestock every day with threats and harassment and even threatened to sue (LOL) if Livestock did not give her back the animals. She did not have the money to get to get them back out of hock, she even tried to give them a bad check (thanks to daughter's loser boyfriend who was busted for writing back checks) but they insisted on cash or certified funds only. So the animals were then auctioned off, most of them were bought by concerned residents of Maricopa. 1 of the horses though was under contract to be sold and was having its board paid when this horse, unknown to the would be buyer, was seized and auctioned, so this is one of many people out $ thanks to Wendy.
Criminal charges were never pressed because the animals were in decent condition when found. Although the hooves were severly neglected, the horses and donkeys were not starved. She is not banned from owning livestock but has no business doing so since she does not work, has NO money, and cannot care for her animals. She makes a living off of donations that generous, but clueless, poeple give her. Very little of the money actually goes to the animals. She is NOT non profit so people should not give her money anyways.
After word of the seizure, the guest book on Wendy's website was removed due to all the warnings people post about her.
Her website though is still active and is listed on amny websites as her being a horse/animal sanctuary.
She has been arrested NUMEROUS times for domestic violence, and her estranged husband also has been arrested numerous times for assault, disorderly conduct, fighting, etc. Both of these losers are well known to police in Maricopa, so now they are divorcing and Wendy has supposedly moved somewhere near Buckeye AZ. She is currently soliciting donations even though the address she is using has no horses there. She gets up and moved alot though so who knows what she is up to.
Do NOT give her any money. She does not take care of her animals. If you do find out that she does have animals, call the AZ Dept of Livestock to make sure an officer keeps an eye on her property.
There are many legit animal rescues out there, that are not ran by troublemakers, and drunks.
Do not have anything to do with XS Ranch, or Wendy. If you do see she does ever have animals again, please make sure they are getting fed.
