I received a phone call at my business from Abanco telling me they could save me credit card fees so I agreed to let a salesman come see me. He looked at what I was paying and said he could save me money plus their equipment let me take checks and if the checks were NSF, they'd be automatically covered. He had me sign a blank contract as he said the computer would fill in the rest.
I paid $2300 cash for the terminal as it would have been close to $6,000 in monthly fees. After it was installed, I started getting calls from Abanco questioning why I was entering credit card info without scanning the cards. I'd told the salesman that 95 per cent of my business was from the Internet or mail/fax. He'd reversed it on the form and said 95 percent was in the store.
Abanco cancelled my service and refused to refund my $2300; even though I had a blank contract I faxed them to show them that the salesman lied. I then had to find another credit card company and they can't support the terminal so I lost $2300. I complained to the Nevada Attorney General who after months said it had to go to the Illinois Attorney General and they never responded of course. This is a scam company to be avoided at all costs.
