Don't go to work for Inflexion.inflexion Communications has been delaying paying me for a month.
I will leave out what I found out about how the company does business and their network, this is about getting a promissed pay check
Here is the story, I was hired as a base salary plus commission employee at Inflexion Communication on 12/21 in the Detroit office. I was told at that time that I would get a paycheck every two weeks and the next Pay date would be 12/31 for the preceding week.
12/31, I was told that I would get paid on the next pay cycle since I had only been there 1 week and they would not be processing a check for only 1 week on the job. I should have known then something was wrong.
On the next pay cycle, 01/14, I was told that the company had changed payroll companies and that checks would be delayed.
Finally on 01/18/05 I received a check for half the expected amount. When I asked about the amount, I was told that I had been paid for the 7 days in December I had worked. When asked why I was getting paid only for 7 days not 14, the response was that I was on a monthly pay cycle.
Wait, I asked, I thought you told me I was on a bi-monthly cycle. Sorry they said you were missed informed, but dont worry.
I pointed out that in the employee manual it states clearly that we get paid every two weeks. The message I got back was that the manual was not for sales people. Sales people get paided once per month.
So I asked when would I be paid for the month of January? I was told the first Friday of February, 02/04.
Well on Friday 02/04 there were no pay checks delivered to the office. When I enquired as to why with the VP of Marketing, first he told me to call administration. Then he informed me that he was withholding the check until a sales report was filed with him.
Well, I'm not sure about other states, but that's not legal in the state of Michigan. You cannot withhold checks for any reason.
He then told me that if I were to close a high profile account I had been working on he would then authorize a payment of $6000 to me. Wouldn't that be a commision only job?
I then asked what about the salary from last month, and he raised the pay out to $8,000 for the sale, but would not address the unpaid wages. I guess he thought that could wait.
When I pressed him on the unpaid wages he commented that he could not work with me if I was going to have this type of attitude, and that he would terminate my employment.
Attitude! I had just been jerked around for 7 weeks about getting a paycheck. Did I miss it in the employee handbook where it said I was working for free. The VP told me that he send me the termination letter and the wages that were owed to me.
This is when I had to admit what I had thought in the back of my head weeks ago.inflexion only wants the sale, they don't care about the sales force or the other employees. They dont want to or can't pay you for the work done.
As of 02/08 still no sign of the letter or promised wages. Also as of this date none of the other sales persons have been paid and have not been given a date that they ever will.
I hate to make a ugly compairson, but this is exactly what happen to the employees at Norverence before they closed oweing their employees promissed saleries.
Don't make the same mistake I made, don't go to work for this company you won't get paid.
