I needed advice on how to load Kaspersky Internet Security software on a laptop w/no CD drive and called Kaspersky to ask for advice on what to do. A woman answered and said she could remove any other security software and download Kaspersky Internet Security on both devices for me. To do that she needed to take control of my computer. At that time she began scanning the computer and found several malicious software items– which she showed me. She said she’d remove them and my old security software and then install the security software. However, she said there would be a charge of $199 for each computer and told me that she’d have to hand this work over to a Microsoft-licensed technician. She connected me to someone from Itechline LLC who spent about three hours supposedly removing the bad software and the older security system and then installing Kaspersky on my desktop and laptop. HOWEVER, I discovered that the old security software and malicious software were still on the computers.
6/20/13: I contacted Kaspersky by phone again and told the person there what had occurred. She asked me who I talked with and I gave her the name of the original person—who she said had once worked for Kaspersky but not presently. She also asked what company I’d been passed off to. She then went to a website that showed that Itechline LLC had been accused of scams a number of times in the past two years. She also showed me some malicious software that was still on my computer, including a worm or Trojan. She said she would have to hand me off to another company that had Microsoft-licensed technicians to do the work of removing that software. This time it would cost $175/computer. I agreed to that. That company is Rudhra Inc. The man who did the work there completed the work on both computers in about 1.5 hrs.
I believe I should not pay for any Itechline LLC work because they did not do what they’d agreed to do and I had to pay another company to finally do that work. The second company did all they said they’d do and my computer works properly without any malicious software and with the Kaspersky Internet Security software installed and the old security software removed.
