I returned a Jeep Grand Cherokee on 6/5. The rental period was 5/29 to 6/5. The vehicle was used for leisure to transport my 2 grandchildren ages 2 and 4 to a Juvenile Diabetes Foundation picnic in Jacksonville, FL. The children had their car seats in the back area and did have their sippy cups (non-spill type), dirt on their socks from the park area.
I was charged $250.00 for "excessive cleaning fee". I was never notified of this until I looked at my bank account when I returned home to Kansas! I have called and written the company and their response was the standard "the vehicle needed to be sent out for detailing due to excessive dirt/dog hair/smoke/etc." NONE of which is true!
I rented 3 cars from Budget while in Florida, I have never returned an excessively dirty car, in fact I usually gas it up and vacumn it before I return it. The vehicle was checked over with the Agent upon return and nothing was said to me then, or ever.
I have yet to resolve this issue with them, I rented 2 additional cars after that Jeep and nothing was said to me regarding anything to do with my account!
