I was contacted online through email, by a young and beautiful, svetlana leontewa, from russia. We corrosponded for about 2 months.
As time went on we started talking about love. She was in love with me and i was in love with her. I really was.
Then came the mention about money. At first I offered to help, and then decided not to.
She wrote back and said it is alright she will make all her own.
Then she said that she had to sell gold and silver embellishments, and jewelry, that belonged to her mother.
She said that it wasnt enough, and would need 450.00usd in order to keep her ticket reservations. She sent me times and flight #s. She said she would board the plane in moscow, after a 3 day train ride.
Then when she was supposed to come over here, she emailed me a picture of herself holding a sign saying, I'm flying to my love.
She also said that she would email me from the internet cafe in moscow.
A few days went by and she emailed me from what I thought was moscow.
She said that customs would not let her board the plane without at least 700usd. He explained to her that she was not a tourist unless she had spending money. They did not want her to succomb to prostitution or begging. I kind of understand where some of that being true.
They are a deprived country and more of their citizens want to leave the country, so their government wants to make a good impression about thier people.
Needless to say I sent her the 700.00usd through western union. I later called western union and discovered thah she had picked up the money in ulanosvk, which is about half way to moscow from the first town she picked up the 450usd.
I emailed her back to confront her with this info.
She replied back the next day with a story that she was mugged, and hit on the head, and needed 125usd to get back home and sell her apt so she could be with me forever. She said she would pay me back.
I did not send her any money. Only another email saying that I would not send any money and felt that I have been scammed.
She replied back saying that it was a scam and that she is a single mother and has a son that is ivalid. Sshe said I need money for an operation for him. Again I told her sorry, but without medical records and pictures of your son and you together, I cannot send you money. I said that if you are telling the truth and you can sell your apt. I will take care of you and your son when you get here.
I haven't heard from her since.
I have copies of emailed pics. And letters. They are very convincing.
